RWD 14 Czapla
The history was designed by S. Rogalski and J. Drzewiecki; engineers famous for their "RWD" series aircraft designs. The prototype constructed at the Experimental Aircraft. Plant were marked "RWD-14" Production of 65 aircraft ordered by the Department of Aviation was started at the Lublin Aircraft Factory, at a rate of 8 aircraft a month at first, to rise to 1 aircraft per day in the final stage. The ordered series was completed on February 28, 1939. The regular series aircraft was called
"LWS Czapla" (Heron). In August 1939 the Czapla became standard equipment of front line units, each of the following squadrons having 7 aircraft - Squadron - 13 (SGO "Narew"), squadron - 23 ("Cracow" army), squadron - 33 ("Poznan" army), squadron - 53 ("Modlin" army), squadron - 63 ("Lodz" army), reserve units, repair units and training groups each had about 10 aircraft. During the Nazi invasion of Poland, the Czaplas performed reconnoitring flights and maintained communicatons between the headquarters of the Polish armies.
